Inter schools cross country!!!

On Thursday 18 June all of the top 10 runners from cross country did interschools cross country. But I didn't go to the actual cross country because I went to Tauranga. So how did I get into the interschools then? Well I went to the interschools because the teachers knew I was fast because I came a good place in every cross country league. So all of the inter school runners got onto the bus and off went to Branford park. I was sooooooo scared! And what do know, year 5 girls first. I was kind of glad that we went first though because then it would be over and done with. We lined up down at the far end ready for the race. My heart was pounding and I really needed to go to the toilet. Then finally the man said, "Ready. Set. GO!" And we all started to run. My legs felt strong and I started to speed up. I was coming in 2nd place then this really tall girl passed me. I kept on running! We jumped over a log and then the girl that had passed me slowed down. I over took her and now I was coming 2nd again. The girl in front of me went to Clifton Terrace. I sped up a bit and then over took her when we went up the hill. I was not that far ahead but I was coming 1st. We kept on running and I was still in the lead. Then we got to the bike tracks and I got a bit confused. I stopped in the middle of the race and looked around then I just remembered where to go, so I kept on going in the same direction. We were now half way and I was still in front.

Now we were very close to the finish line. I kept on running, everyone did. I was SO scared, but really excited. I was really tired and my body felt like jelly. The girl behind me almost over took me but I wouldn't let her. I ran as fast as I could and then before I knew it I had crossed the finish line. I had come first in the year five girls inter school!

Zentangle Art!!

Mrs Wright and room 5 have been doing art called Zentangle art.
This is my Zentangle art. I am very proud of it because I have put lots of detail and interesting patterns into it, well that's what I think. It is a picture of 3 cats sitting together on a tree branch. I got some of the patterns from the internet, but most of the patterns I made up. I absolutely love cats as well! And my sign name means cat sloth because I love cats and sloths. Zentangle art is a relaxing kind of art and it is full of patterns. It is really fun to make a zentangle art because you never get bored of doing it. And you have finished you coukd stare at it all day. It just looks so pretty and detailed. Thank you Mrs Wright and room 5 will miss you so much!

My Tauranga Holiday!

I was not here for five days. You know why???? Well? Anyway I was away because I went to Tauranga to see my Maori family. It was really good to see them again because I hadn't seen them since 2014 Christmas. I went on 2 planes to get there. The first plane to get to Wellington was 25 minutes and the second to get to Tauranga  took  about an hour. The food were well.....actually there was NO food, but Hannah the air hostess gave me a big cup of lollies. Air New Zealand lollies+Elly Mae= really happy! Anyway enough with lollies. When we arrived  in Tauranga, Pani my aunty was there, Manaia my cousin was there and John Lees my other cousin was there too. We started chatting in the car and laughed. We talked about school and life. John Lees said that there are 1200 kids in his school, and I said that there were over 400 kids in my school, and it's true.

We had a lot of fun, then we had dinner (fish n chips). After the AMAZING dinner Manaia and I said goodnight to Ruia, David and Tarangi. Oh! Silly me I haven't told you about little baby Ruia or even David and Tarangi. Well, Ruia is David and Tarangi's baby daughter. She is 6 months old. David is German and Tarangi his wife is Pani's daughter. I am really happy that I have so much family! So we said goodnight to them because they were going to bed. But Manaia and I were not going to bed yet! So we decided to play marbles.
Oh and it was a great game of marbles because I won!

After Marbles we drew some pictures of buffaloes wearing sunglasses sitting on motorbikes. Then my hands rubbed my eyes and the same happened with Manaia. John Lees was asleep and everyone else was asleep except for mum, manaia and I. So guess what??? TIME FOR BED!! Oh man! Anyway we walked to the bedroom and collapsed on the mattress.

The next day Mum, John Lees, Manaia and I went on a walk along the beach. I rode on John Lees's BMX bike, Manaia rode on her bike, Mum walked (like always) and John lees rode his scooter. When we got to the beachy place we all saw this amazing boat that had crashed or something it looked really fascinating. Then Manaia and I stumbled along the rocks and got on the sand. Then we made a really big, awesome rock pool for all of the crabs and creatures we found on the little sandy beach. John Lees and mum talked and then mum told Manaia and I that they were leaving. We were cool with it cause it was really fun making our rock pool and finding beach creatures.

Green Screening

In the wonderful class (room 5) we have been very busy over the last few weeks. And when I say busy I mean REEEEEEALLY busy! Because we have been green screening! You know that post about the literacy progressions, well we had to act them out on green screen. It was amazing fun. I did my comedy interview with Cherry because I had two characters in my story, so, YAY! Cherry could be Greg Lacookas (the man in my story.) Watch the video it is very cool, and I am proud. But I think I should work on being a lot louder because I couldn't really hear myself. So if we do green screening again I will make sure I am loud and clear.
